I realized just how valuable my HSA was when I decided to get LASIK eye surgery because I wanted to take control of my vision. I was never a candidate for contacts, so I’ve worn glasses since high school. At first, I was unsure about the surgery because having your eyes operated on can be both intimidating and expensive. All it took was some quick research, however, to find that I was able to use my HSA for the procedure. I became a full-time employee in February 2019 and had the procedure done just eight months later. The HSA benefit really helped me out because I was able to build up my account, not touching it at all until it was time for the surgery. Hindsight being 20/20, and now my vision being 20/20, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I was under the laser for 30 seconds per eye and said goodbye to my glasses forever. To top it all off, I’ve been able to rebuild my HSA, very graciously, thanks to AIS’s contributions.
