AIS is pleased to announce that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued the company a new patent, expanding AIS’s intellectual property (IP) and raising its portfolio to 25 issued patents with multiple currently pending.
“Expanding our patent portfolio reinforces our commitment to developing cutting-edge Technology solutions that enhance system security and resilience,” said Scott Robidoux, Chief Operating Officer at AIS. “This new patent introduces an advanced memory access control method within virtualized environments, ensuring that hypervisor applications can only access specific, predefined memory segments of guest virtual machines. By dynamically managing page table sets and restricting hypervisor memory exposure, this innovation strengthens isolation and mitigates potential attack vectors. AIS continues to pioneer technologies that safeguard critical systems with precision and efficiency.”
Patent Details:
U.S. Patent Number: 12,229,047 : MEMORY ACCESS CONTROL IN A VIRTUALIZATION ENVIRONMENT
Memory access control in a virtualization environment is provided. Sets of page tables are maintained, with each set corresponding to a given hypervisor application and guest virtual machine (VM), and each set including mappings to a subset of the guest VM memory to thereby limit an amount of the quest VM memory that is accessible Presentation of these sets is controlled to present just one of the sets at any given time for hypervisor processing to access guest VM memory.
Invention is credited to former AIS employees Rian Quinn and Connor Davis.
